Solution: Check the service history of your car. This is usually caused by an imbalance in the braking system. It was the subject of an Avensis recall, so the work should have been carried out already. If it hasn't, then a Toyota dealership should do the repair for free. The Avensis T Spirit is the reliable, Luxurious cruiser that I've been looking for, my only concern is which do I go for the 2.2 or the 2.0 litre D4D? Which UK confirms it's probably the most reliable car available for my budget of £6-7,000 but these forums mention the head gasket is quite venerable on the 2.2.

Icon Tourer is an estate car Avensis in a good specification (electric windows, air con, etc) all very nicely appointed. The car is very nice to be in if somewhat dull. 2.0 diesel is fast enough, cheap to tax, and if you take it slow you will see 60 miles per gallon. Not a fun car to drive, but it is not that kind of car.

Sorry you having grief with your car. I not had an Avensis, good looking cars though. Someone will be along soon with help. I undewrstand petrol are pretty good, but there is a diesel model that uses a BMW engine that has caused a lot of problems. Dont worry someone will steer you in the right direction.
The internal lights are bright and have good coverage (this was one of the minor niggles about the i30, the interior illumination was not very effective). Automatic headlamps and wipers are both OK, the car is a little reluctant to put on the sidelights, but the wipers are pretty good on the second-least sensitive setting.
