Nov 5, 2014. #10. Previously,,,, the pick up part of the oil pump was almost completely blocked with old bits of silicon. (Previous owner!) This had caused a build up in pressure and the likely cause of the smokey engine, poor performance and maybe even the previous head gasket change. (Had suspected a duff valve seal too).
